Troubleshooting steps if you are unable to link your WhatsApp device for archiving:
- Restart your phone: Turn your primary device off and back on again to clear any temporary glitches.
- Check your internet connection: Ensure your device has a strong, stable internet connection. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or connect to a different Wi-Fi network.
- Update WhatsApp: Make sure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp on both your phone and the device you are trying to link.
- If you transfer WhatsApp to a new phone, be sure to unlink your device first, wait 30 seconds, then re-link your device after WhatsApp is working on your new phone
- If you forgot to unlink you device when transferring your WhatsApp to a new phone, you can remove the WhatsApp service and re-add it in our portal, wait 30 seconds then link your new device
App and device-specific solutions:
- Android devices – Clear the cache: On your phone, go to your app settings in WhatsApp and clear the cache for WhatsApp.
- Android devices – Disable battery optimization: Turn off battery saver or any battery optimization settings for WhatsApp, as they can interfere with background connections.
- Reinstall the app: Uninstall and then reinstall the WhatsApp app on your phone. This can resolve persistent pairing issues.
- If you continue to have linking issues, please provide support with your phone make/model and WhatsApp version (personal or business and version number)
