As of May 2026, X Messages that use end-to-end encryption can’t be archived. Only unencrypted messages can be archived per X terms of service.
End-to-end encrypted messages sent in the new X Chat cannot be viewed or archived by anyone other than the sender and recipient(s).
If you use the X platform we recommend for compliance purposes that you respond to any chat by referring the sender to contact you on a compliant channel (i.e. business email, website, FB page, LinkedIn or other archived channel)
At this time X encrypted chat cannot be archived or viewed by X or any third-party providers.
Posts created on X can still be archived as normal.
